Southern Garden Art magazine (SGA) sat down with Annabelle the Garden Statue, the co-star of the Telly Award-winning web series COME ON OVER. We talked with Annabelle about her newfound fame, and how it has changed her outlook on life.
SGA: Congratulations on the Telly Award! To what do you attribute the show’s success?
Annabelle: Honestly, me. I am in every show. Well, there have been a couple episodes that I wasn't in. They were creative choices by the show's producer that I didn’t agree with. We had it out. I fired my agent. It was a whole thing. SGA: What is the best part of being the show’s co-host? Annabelle: I get my photo taken a lot, and my image is often superimposed in famous movies or TV shows. Come to think of it, I need more royalties. I need to call my new agent. SGA: How did you get hired for the part? Annabelle: I was already designated as the token jump scare for my handler’s household. She got giddy hiding me in random places to frighten her husband while he was mowing. I feel sorry for him. She really is a sicko. |
SGA: So, are you saying you don’t get along with the show’s host, Christine Schaub?
Annabelle: We have a love/hate relationship. She does the love part. I am frankly indifferent to her. SGA: Does that make a difficult working relationship? Annabelle: Both our working and personal relationships are suspect. Most days, I just want to be left alone, then here she comes, putting something stupid on my head or in my lap for a Twitter picture. Does she ever ask if I WANT my picture taken? Nope. She just does it. I have zero personal space or say in the matter. SGA: You like posting on Twitter @annabellespeaks though, right? Annabelle: Twitter is a human cesspool, but yes, I rather enjoy it. |
SGA: So, what would you be doing if you weren’t co-starring in COME ON OVER?
Annabelle: I would probably be hiding behind some hydrangeas in my handler’s yard. She loves those things. They can be pokey though. SGA: Where do you see yourself in five years? Annabelle: As the actual star of COME ON OVER. My new agent is working on it now. SGA: Any words of wisdom for other garden statues who want to win Telly Awards for their work? Annabelle: Stand up for yourself. Don’t take no for an answer. Be the best version of yourself. Unless you are in a permanent seated position like me, then just roll with it. Also, when birds crap on you, be patient. Eventually, the rain will fall. I really should tell my agent that I could easily write an inspirational book. Can you hand me the phone and put it on speaker? |
