"Come On Over" Web Series honored by the 28th Annual Communicators Awards
For Immediate Release (Nashville, TN) – The YouTube web series “Come On Over with Christine Schaub” has won the Award of Distinction from the 28th Annual Communicator Awards announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. With over 5,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. Other winners this year include Forbes, The Walt Disney Company Europe & Africa, Mattel, State Farm, Philips, T-Mobile, Pepsico, and many more.
“Come On Over” won the award in the How-To/Instructional video category. The show runs the gamut—from gardening to cooking to party planning to home décor—and all things in between.
The concept for the show was birthed less than a year ago at a Nashville-area bistro when an out-of-town guest described all the ways Schaub had thrown out the welcome mat for her visit. In the background, Schaub’s friend and publicist listened, formulated an idea, and proposed an unscripted video series. Together, the two conceptualized the series’ mission of showing people how to make guests feel welcome and special. Schaub says she hopes the show is helping people re-learn the lost art of hospitality.
“Being a good host simply involves kindness, friendliness and generosity,” says Schaub. “After that, good food, pretty flowers or a fancy tea set are just icing on the cake! And yes…please have cake.”
Schaub says this is not your ordinary how-to series—there is an element of humor and fun in each episode while Schaub imparts some wisdom to her viewers.
“A kitchen disaster is comedy gold,” Schaub insists. “Because every good host has survived an embarrassing moment with company in their house, and—bonus!—it makes for a really good story after you’ve had your cry.”
