Nashville-based web series honored with 2023 Telly Award
Nashville, TN —The Nashville-based YouTube series, “COME ON OVER,” garnered the Bronze Award for Best Non-Scripted Web Series by the 44th Annual Telly Awards. This was a record-breaking year for the awards program with nearly 13,000 entries from across the globe, and top video and television content producers such as Airbnb, Audible, BET Networks/BET Digital, BritBox, Disney, NASA, National Geographic Society, Netflix, Paramount, PBS Digital Studios, among others.
The ”COME ON OVER” series launched just two years ago, and had previously won a Communicators Award for Best How To/Instructional web series in 2022. Show host Christine Schaub says the show is all about bringing back the lost art of hospitality.
“What an honor to see hospitality get the attention it so richly deserves,” says Schaub. “Perhaps the Telly Award judges would like to stop by the Come On Over house for an impromptu tea party. I can be ready in 10 minutes!”
The concept for the show was born at a Nashville-area bistro when an out-of-town guest began to describe all the ways Schaub had thrown out the welcome mat for her visit. In the background, Schaub’s friend and publicist listened, formulated an idea, and proposed an unscripted video series. Together, the two conceptualized the series’ mission of showing people how to make guests feel welcome and special. Schaub says this is not your ordinary how-to series—there is an element of humor and fun in each episode while Schaub imparts some wisdom to her viewers.
“A kitchen disaster is comedy gold,” Schaub insists. “Because every good host has survived an embarrassing moment with company in their house, and—bonus!—it makes for a really good story after you’ve had your cry.”
The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, production companies and including Adobe, BBC World Service, Netflix, Dow Jones, Complex Networks, Jennifer Garner, A&E Networks, Hearst Media, Nickelodeon, National Geographic Society, ESPN Films, RYOT, Partizan, and Vimeo.
“The caliber of the work this season coming from creators such as 'COME ON OVER' truly has reflected the theme of breaking out and standing out,” said Tellys Executive Director Sabrina Dridje. “Our industry is experimenting with new technologies like never before, crafting truly compelling stories to draw attention to some of the world’s most pressing issues, and companies big and small are turning to more sustainable practices to break the cycle of past production processes.”
The "COME ON OVER" series is produced by Nashville-based Sora Entertainment (http://www.soraentertainment.com). The full list of the 44th Annual Telly Awards winners can be found at www.tellyawards.com/winners.
